These cards will be used for all public services once they are distributed to all citizens. For instance:

  • Name, surname
  • Date of birth
  • Caste, sex
  • Name of the father/mother
  • Type of citizenship
  • Name of the husband/wife/grandfather

It also keeps track of one’s biometric information, such as:

  • Fingerprints of all fingers
  • Iris(eye)

It also carries other significant pieces of information such as:

  • A unique identity number
  • Photo
  • Nationality

  • A micro-chip

Getting A National ID Card or Rashtriya Parichaya Patra?

Government entities for National IDs are currently collecting individual data from eligible persons. These cards are issued through the District Administration Office of the concerned district or from the venues approved by the DoNIDCR once they have been prepared.

Beneficiaries from the Bagmati Province, excluding Bhaktapur and Lalitpur, could apply for the Rashtra Parichaya Patra at Kathmandu’s District Administration Office. Beneficiaries of Madhesh Pradesh can also apply for a Nation ID card at the Kathmandu district office.

Beneficiaries from the Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province could apply for a National Id card at the Lalitpur District Administration Office for most essential services. In contrast, beneficiaries from Province 1, Gandaki Province, and Lumbini Province could apply at the Narayanhiti Palace’s Department of Passport.

How To Apply For Rashtra Parichaya Patra Via Online Platforms?

Step by step process required for filling up your application for a National ID Card through online platforms has been discussed below:

  1. Visit the official website of the Department of National ID and Civil Registration Portal
  2. Scroll down to the place where you find the National Identity Card online application and click it
  3. Here you’ll see the NID Pre-Enrollment System
    1. Login For Individuals
    2. Login For Service Providers
  4. Click on the 1st option if you are an individual or the second option if you belong to a service provider
  5. Enter your mobile number
  6. Click on New Enrollment
  7. Then you can see the form as shown in the figure

How To Apply For Rashtra Parichaya Patra vis SMS?

to link them to a variety of other state-related services in the near future. And if you’ve applied for a Rashtra Parichaya Patra, you’ll most likely get your own unique ID number. You can quickly obtain it if you haven’t already by sending an SMS. Follow the quick 3 steps below to receive your National ID Card’s unique number through SMS:

  • On your phone, open the messaging app
  • Type N, followed by a space and a 16-digit application number.
  • Then send it to 30001

For example, if your application number is 1234567890000000, you must transmit it to 30001 as N 1234567890000000.

Following that, you will receive an email with your unique National ID number. If you still haven’t received it, you can reach out to the Department via WhatsApp, where you’ll find different contacts for different provinces.

If you live in the Bagmati or Gandaki province, call 9851316034; if you live in Lumbini, Karnali, or the Far West, call 9851316035. Keep in mind that you’ll need to transmit a snapshot of your confirmation page, voucher, and message response to your WhatsApp contact for the next step.

Applying For A National ID Card In Nepal

There are several major criteria that an applicant must fulfill before applying for a Rashtra Parichaya Patra. They are:

  • Must be above the age of 18
  • Must bear a Nepali citizenship
  • Marriage certificate(in case of marriage)
  • Migration Certificate(Basai Sarai) if you’ve changed your address permanently

Checking The Status Of Your National ID Card

Applicants can check the status of their National ID Card from donidcr.gov.np even if their Rashtra Parichaya Patra hasn’t been printed.

There, in the box named National Id Status, enter your National Identity Number. From there, you’ll get to know the status of your NID Card.
